A charity celebrated a move to seven-day opening, with a family day of fun and activities.

Visitors to Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, near Wetheral, on Bank Holiday Monday were treated to a range of animal-themed fun.

Behind-the-scenes tours, craft, demonstrations, pony grooming and meet the animal experiences, ensured there was something for everyone at Oak Tree Farm.

Sarah Batty, fundraising and communications manager, said: “It was great to see so many people. Children and adults alike took part in animal detective treasure hunts and became really competitive in the spacehopper horse gymkhana.

"Having our site and tearoom open seven days a week is in response to visitor feedback, and we are pleased our extended opening hours will allow us to welcome more people to our site to meet the animals and learn about responsible pet ownership."

The charity’s site and tearoom is now open from 10am until 4pm daily.
