A free fun day in Moss Bay was hailed a success by its organisers.

Workington Town Council held the day of family entertainment at a marquee near Jane Pit, off Mossbay Road, on Saturday.

Children and adults enjoyed beach themed crafts, sand art, jellyfish plates, storytelling, birds of prey, small animals and face painting.

Amy Johnson, town council's events officer, said: "It's the first time we've had a family fun day in Moss Bay and we had a fantastic day. The weather held out and we had a great turnout. We're hoping we can return again next year."

Workington Town Council will be holding a kite festival at Harrington Marina on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

A fun day is also planned for August 26 at Workington's Vulcan Park.
