A major route into a West Cumbrian village has been hit by an emergency road closure.
Cumbria County Council has imposed the closure on Low Road in Brigham, where it links to the A66.
The closure is expected to remain in place until Friday to allow United Utilities to carry out work to ensure water supplies in the area are maintained following recently prolonged dry weather.
A council spokesman said the work involved the transfer of water to a reservoir at Mealsgate, and that it would be unsafe to carry out the work without a road closure in place.
A diversion is in place via the A595, School Brow and High Brigham.
