Dunmail Park Shopping Centre turns 30 years old this Saturday, and everyone is invited to its birthday party.

Although you can no longer buy a pint of milk for 26p in the shopping centre (as you could in 1988), Workington's Dunmail Park remains with its doors wide open to the public, and its anniversary is no exception. Between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, the shopping centre is hosting a free family event to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Family favourites the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (who are as old as Dunmail Park) will be around to meet and greet young shoppers, along with a balloon modeller, and all event-goers have the chance of winning fabulous prizes in Pass the Parcel.

The entertainment won't end there, with CFM playing 80s music for the event, hosting games and giving away prizes. A Fun Fashion Challenge, involving delightful 80s clothing, will provide more chances for shoppers to win goodies, and an Anagram Rush will give Countdown fans their time to shine.

Cupcakes and cinema vouchers will be handed out to shoppers, and the final event of the day will see balloons containing golden tickets dropped around the shopping centre for shoppers to find and exchange for £30.

Donald Dixon, Managing Director of J Dixon & Son Ltd., owners of Dunmail Park, say, “We’re delighted to be inviting the local community to join us for our 30th anniversary celebrations. The free event is sure to be a fun day and we look forward to welcoming everyone along.”
