CUMBRIA'S police dog unit has been shortlisted for an award to celebrate the use of Twitter.
Cumbria Police Dogs are one of three finalists in the Best Tweeting Dog account in the 2017 Police Twitter Awards.
The awards were launched in 2011 to recognise the police officers and police staff of all ranks who are now actively using Twitter to communicate and show the public all aspects of policing.
Cumbria Police Dogs has around 11,800 followers on Twitter and has posted almost 4,500 tweets.
Earlier this month the unit welcomed its newest recruits - three Dutch Herder Malinois cross pups who were born to Police Dog Teal.
A panel of experts including police officers and members of the public picked the three finalists in each category.
Cumbria's dog unit is up against PC Dave Wardell and his dog, PD Finn; and British Transport Police's dog unit.
The finalists, which were revealed last night, will be invited to the awards ceremony which will be hosted by West Yorkshire Police on November 24.
