A man accused of defrauding a west Cumbria social club will go on trial later this year.
Michael Roy Gerard Launders, 53, faced a single charge when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today.
He denied one allegation of fraud that, while occupying the role of treasurer at CMS social club, at Maryport, he "dishonestly abused that position by failing to keep proper records and making unauthorised withdrawals, thereby to make a gain for yourself".
Launders will stand trial in the week of November 6.
In the meantime Launders, of St Nicholas Avenue, Flimby, was granted bail by the judge, Recorder David Potter.
