The organisers of a Cumbrian motor show are hoping for bumper crowds as the event returns for a second time.

The inaugural Cumbria Motor Show attracted about 1,500 visitors - but this year's event is set to be even bigger, with events planned to appeal to people of all ages.

"It was the first time last year," organiser Hannah Powell told the News & Star .

"We had about 1,500 people come along, but we're hoping for double that this time around.

"There's nothing else really like this in Carlisle. People complain about young people and their cars so what we decided to do was put on a show where they could bring them along.

"There's going to be lots of other things as well - face painting, balloon modelling and the chance to play Xbox games.

"It's £5 for adults and children get in free. I think that's good value for money for a day out that offers something a little bit different."

Hannah added that unlike many other car shows, there is no particular requirement for people keen to show off their vehicle.

"It's open to absolutely everyone," she said.

"Your car doesn't have to be a particular type. It doesn't necessarily have to be modified, but it can be if you want.

"We're also inviting car clubs to take part, so they can show off their cars as well. It's open to anyone."

Hannah said that while the first ever Cumbria Motor Show saw most cars arrive from across the county - as well as Dumfries and Galloway - this year it will be a much broader collection.

"We've got people due to come from all over," she said.

"We've got cars coming from places like Inverness, Birmingham, West Yorkshire and we've also got quite a few coming down from Glasgow."

However, the big highlight this year is set to be the motorcycle stunt riders.

"They're a mother and son team," Hannah said.

"They'll be doing a variety of different things and hopefully they'll be inviting someone forward with their car, which they'll jump over."
