A farmer given unpaid work for driving while disqualified has had his sentence varied to a curfew β but it will allow him to visit his lambing barn.
Brian Jones, 64, of Crossfield Road, Cleator Moor, was originally sentenced in December, and given 200 hours unpaid work.
At Carlisle's Rickergate Magistrates' Court, it was agreed to scrap the unpaid work and instead impose a four month 8pm to 8am curfew.
After a request from a Probation Service official in court, the magistrates agreed that the curfew address involved can include the defendant's lambing barn next door to his house.
βIt's lambing season,β explained the probation officer. The original six month driving ban will remain in place in its original form.
