An investigation into the death of a man at a holiday park is now being treated as a manslaughter inquiry.

Police have confirmed that two men have been arrested in connection with the death of Robert William Gordon.

The two arrested are a 47-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, both from Silloth.

They have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

The 47-year-old man was initially arrested on March 12 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

But this was changed to suspicion of manslaughter after Mr Gordon, 47, of Annan Court, Kilmarnock, died.

The two men have been bailed until June 21.

Police were called to the Stanwix Park Holiday Centre in Silloth in the early hours of March 12 following an incident.

Police said Mr Gordon had sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

He died the following day at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

Inquest documents stated his body was identified by his daughter Shereen Gordon.

The inquest into Mr Gordon’s death has been opened and adjourned until August 17.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed an incident that night which started in the bar area of Stanwix Park and then continued outside to come forward.

They should contact police on 101.
