Thousands of people are expected to enjoy the 141st Loweswater Show on Sunday.

The action takes place opposite New House Farm, Lorton, and starts at 10am with fell pony classes, sheep and poultry judging and sheep dog trials.

Show secretary Rachel Moore said: "Entries look excellent, there is a good spread across the classes.

"In addition to all the competitions for animals, this year we will have a few additions on the show field.

"The Ferretworld Roadshow is coming and we are lucky to have some alpacas being brought by Beck Brow Alpacas.

"Maryport Archery Club will be with us and it is just possible that people will be able to view an American red tailed buzzard being walked with its handler.

"Also the Two-Headed Sheep Morris dancers will be joining us."

The hound trailing has had to be moved to Dearham, starting at 1.30pm, as the field where it starts cannot be used. Otherwise it is business as usual.

The field has been regularly inspected in recent weeks following heavy rain.

Rachel said: "At the last inspection it was decided to go ahead, the field is well-drained, we have good support for vehicles that might need assistance and the forecast is good for the remainder of the week."

The show will include fell races for adults and children, as well as Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling.

The industrial marquee opens to the public from 1pm and the grand parade will take place at 3pm.

Cockermouth Mechanics Band will keep crowds entertained and refreshments will be on offer.

"We have a variety of competitions that children can enter on show day – pet classes for dogs and any other animal, fancy dress and all the creative competitions that will be judged in the industrial marquee," said Rachel.

"In addition vintage entries are welcome to come one show day and need not have pre-booked.

"We are all looking forward to show day. For me, it is a satisfying day of a group effort and I hope everyone who comes to the show this year enjoys themselves."
