A resident of a new housing development has raised concerns after workmen left a large hole in the road.
Dearham resident David Johnston photographed the hole, at Newlands Park. He said: "Apparently it is acceptable to leave open excavations like this all weekend with small children playing on the estate."
A Persimmon spokeswoman said the hole had been the result of "unforeseen drainage works which were required last week".
She said the work has now been completed and the hole filled in.
Road surfacing work is ongoing and is expected to be finished within four weeks, she said.
She added: "Anyone who witnesses tampering with safety barriers is asked to alert the Persimmon Lancaster office or the authorities to maintain public protection."
