A string of changes are set to be made to bus routes in and around Carlisle at the start of next month.

The changes will come into force on Monday, September 4, and include the cancellation of the 91B bus service from Raffles to Caldew School in Dalston, which travels via the city centre.

Bus firm Stagecoach has cited low passenger numbers as the reason behind the closure.

It say it has informed the school, while letters were distributed to all passengers in the last few weeks of term.

The 91 and 91A bus services will continue to run from the city centre to the school.

Stagecoach's Cumbria commercial manager, Michael Sanderson, said: "The majority of the route is between Dalston and Carlisle and it is covered by the two other services.

"The only areas that are not covered are Sandsfield Park to Bellevue, so any pupils from there will have to catch 67 or 60 buses into the the city centre first."

The company confirmed it will also be adding an extra bus to the number 60 Monday-Saturday service, while an extra bus will also be added to each of the 62, 67 and 76 Sunday bus services.
