A teenager from Carlisle who died in a crash just over the Scottish border last night has been named by police.

Harry Blowing's car was the only vehicle involved in a crash on the A7 at Kirkton Burn Bridge, Ewes, near Langholm, at about 7.10pm yesterday.

The 18-year-old from Etterby Scaur, Belah, was removed from the car, a black BMW 320, by firefighters and airlifted to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where he later died.

The road at the scene was closed to allow a full road traffic collision examination to take place at to allow an examination of the damage caused to a bridge parapet.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing."

The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.

Sergeant Leigh McCulloch, of the Trunk Roads Policing Group at Lockerbie, said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this crash to come forward and speak to us.

"Likewise we want to speak to anyone who may have seen the black BMW driving south prior to the collision."
