A criminal whose life has been blighted by heroin abuse was told by a judge: “You have got to sort yourself out.”

Nicky Lee Griffiths, 34, received the advice having added to an enormous criminal record featuring 151 offences.

Griffiths appeared at Carlisle Crown Court, where he admitted supplying class A heroin, on February 14, and was sentenced by Judge Peter Davies.

The court heard Griffiths committed the “unusual” crime having been contacted by a female friend.

She asked if he could buy £10 of heroin on her behalf from a third party.

He did so and delivered it. But he was later arrested by police.

The court heard Griffiths had 10 previous drugs offences to his name, including one for heroin supply.

He was given a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and a three-month electronically-monitored night-time curfew.

Passing sentence, Judge Davies said: “Are you going to waste any more of your life?

“Your life is ruined by it (heroin). There is only one thing that is ruining it.

“You have got to keep away from it. It is horrible stuff.”

In response, Griffiths, of Low Meadow, Belle Vue, Carlisle, insisted from the dock: “I have sought help. I am on the right road.”
