A car was left embedded in the front of a house after crashing through a window and wall while the home owner was inside.

Those involved – the car driver, passengers and the man in the house – all escaped injury in the dramatic collision on Yewdale Road in the west of the city.

But there was major damage caused to the house and car.

Builders are now set to make sure the house is structurally safe before the car, a Seat Ibiza, can be removed.

The crash happened at about 7pm on Wednesday.

The large front window was smashed and breeze blocks could be seen dislodged around the point of the impact.

Inside the car the now deflated airbags had been activated by the force of the impact.

Cracks could also clearly be seen running along the side of the front extension.

The News & Star approached the householder and was told that the crash was an accident.

A police spokeswoman said officers attended but there were no injuries.
