Two teenage brothers who have already raised £350 for charity are now holding a charity football match to raise even more cash.

Kind-hearted Declan Moore, 16, and Charlie Johnstone, 16, from Workington, worked to raise awareness for their chosen charity of the Bradley Lowery Foundation as part of their National Citizen's Service scheme, before deciding they wanted to go even further and raise money for a good cause.

Now, businesses have got involved with the charity football match, which will be held at The Ranch, on Mossbay Road, Workington, on Saturday, August 5, at 12pm.

Rob's Ices and a catering company will both be in attendance and will be donating half of their profits from the day to charity, inspired by six-year-old Bradley who died from cancer in July.

Glitter and face-painting alongside a bouncy castle for children are also on the agenda, and businesses have donated prizes for a raffle.

They have received £350 in donations already.

Charlie said: "We both have a love of football and sport, and the Bradley Lowery Foundation instantly popped into our minds.

"His story touched three quarters of England, and we thought it was a really good cause.

"Going around the NCS guidelines was difficult, but we've tried to get as many people involved as we could."

Proud mum Jodie Johnstone, aged 35, from Workington, said: "I think it's absolutely amazing.

"It's really touched mine and my husband's hearts that they have given up two weeks of their time in the summer holidays for something that they have found to be a heart-toucher.

"It speaks volumes about the kind of boys they are, that they decided to take it further when they don't have to."

Michael Lynas, chief executive of NCS, said: “We are extremely proud of Declan and Charlie for already raising £350 for the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

"It is great to see young people rolling up their sleeves and getting so involved with charitable work in this way.

"We hope that this weekend’s event inspires others to donate to such a worthy cause, and helps highlight how NCS enables young people to come together and achieve incredible things for their local community."

Admission is £3.50 for adults, and £1.00 for children, which also ensures entry into the raffle.
