A heartbroken family are appealing for help finding their pet dog after he ran off following an accident.

Elderly boxer dog Bruno was last seen in Howbank Road, Egremont, just after 4pm yesterday.

His owners say he was hit by a car, then ran off.

It is not known if he was injured or just took fright.

There has since been a possible sighting in East Road.

But despite frantic searching, he has still not been found.

Owner Mackenzie Leder has been sharing his picture on social media in the hope someone will have spotted him.

She wrote: "Someone must know where my poor old Bruno is. He's been ran over and took off scared. Please everyone look in your gardens around Howbank. He's 11 years old."

The 11-year-old boxer dog is brown and white with a docked tail.

His family are so desperate to find him they are offering a £300 reward.

Anyone who thinks they spot him is urged not to chase him.

Instead note the location and call the family on 07874 971871 or 07774 724797.
