Police have released CCTV images of three people they want to speak to in connection with the use of fake £20 notes in west Cumbria.

A number of reports regarding the use of fake notes were made both yesterday and on Thursday.

The fake Bank of Ulster notes have the serial number N0742084.

They were used in seven shops in Cockermouth and one shop in Whitehaven today, as well as in one shop in Egremont yesterday. The notes were also used in a shop in Keswick on Wednesday.

Police believe there may have also been incidents in Carlisle and Brampton.

Police want to speak to:

  • A white man aged between 25 and 30. He is described as being six feet tall and a of stocky build. He was wearing a light-coloured t-shirt and dark trousers
  • A white man in his early 20s who is of a slim build with a pot belly. He has short dark hair on the side and longer hair on the top, with a parting. He also has a pencil-line stubble goatee beard. He was wearing a grey Adidas hoodie with a black jacket and black trainers
  • A white man in his early 20s who is well-built with stubble. He was wearing dark clothes and Adidas trainers.
