Construction a new housing development is drawing to a close as it is revealed that all the properties have been sold.

The Grange is a development of 121 homes in the village of Dalston, west of Carlisle, created by local firm Story Homes.

Its residents are already getting involved in village life.

Last month a group took part in a charity open garden weekend to showcase their outdoor creations and inspire neighbours.

Construction work on the site is due to be completed later this year.

The first residents at The Grange moved into their homes in October 2014. The final homes on the development will move in as construction draws to a close.

Since building work began Story Homes has contributed over £450,000 to the local community in a variety of different ways.

Funds have included support for St Michael's Primary School, which is likely to see a boost in pupil numbers as new families move into the area.

There has also been a new children's play area created and investment in sports pitches and garden projects too.

Andrew Pearson, production director at Story Homes, said: "Throughout the course of the development we have had an excellent construction team and have all worked together to provide a range of quality homes.

"We’ve received great feedback from residents who live on the development and we are looking forward to welcoming the last customers into their new homes."

Story Homes is also behind a new development in the nearby village of Thursby. The show home on its St Andrew's View site opens for the first time this weekend.
