An old television guide dating back more than five decades has been discovered.
The Border Television TV guide from 1961 will now go under the hammer at Carlisle’s H&H Auction Rooms on Monday 25th July .
Found in a house clearance, where it had been stuck in a box for more than 50 years, the September 1 edition of the guide transports us back to a time a few years before colour TV would have been in many homes.
Programmes inside this perfectly-preserved piece of history included the most popular of the era, Wrestling with Big Daddy , Cheyanne , The Avengers and of course Coronation Street .
Adverts of the day within the magazine include a leopard skin Pac a Mac, 1960s furniture and a picture of the original Border television centre presenters headlining on the front of the guide.
Stephen Farthing, H&H auction room manager, said: “This is a fantastic step back in time, and a great reminder of the of the TV programmes, which were popular over 50 years ago, most of which are well-remembered and some of which are still with us today.
"This quite literally is a magazine, which is synonymous with the 1960s, and I know it will bring back some very fond reminders and happy memories for many people."
