A man who died after a road crash near Wigton was the owner of car dealerships in Carlisle.
Michael John Telford, from Warwick on Eden, died in the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, shortly after the two vehicle accident opposite the Wheyrigg Hall Hotel, near Abbeytown, at about 4pm yesterday.
He was the owner of the Telford Group, which has Citroen and Skoda car dealerships.
His family said today that he had a keen interest in motorsport and cars.
Mr Telford, known as Mike, leaves behind his wife Shirley, son Gregor and daughters Kerry and Lindsay as well as grandchildren Jessica, Ella, Harry, Jack and Thomas, said a family statement.
Mr Telford, aged 75, who was driving a Citroen 2CV, died a short time after the collision on the B5302, which was closed by police for around five hours while accident investigators examined the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, a Vauxhall Corsa, was a 21-year-old man from Maryport.
He was treated for minor injuries and is helping police with their inquiries.
Police want anyone who may have seen the collision or has any information about the circumstances leading up to it to contact them on 101.
