300 north Cumbrian homes affected by burst water pipe

A burst water pipe is affecting around 300 homes in north Cumbria.
The six-inch pipe is in Boothby, between Lanercost and Brampton.
Several hamlets in the surrounding area have been affected. Some have run out of water altogether, while most will be experiencing low pressure.
Lees Hill Primary School has closed for the day as a result.
A United Utilities spokeswoman said they were working to repair the pipe. It is not expected the work will be finished until about 6pm.
She added the company was pumping water into the system in a bid to address the situation.
