£30,000 of meat stolen from lorry in Penrith
Last updated at 11:30, Wednesday, 18 July 2012
A lorry trailer containing meat worth £30,000 was stolen from Penrith.
Police said the trailer itself, taken from Haweswater Road, was also worth £50,000 – and it contained 25 pallets of pork products bound for a supermarket.
An investigation is underway and officers are appealing for information about the theft, which happened on Sunday night.
They say it could be linked to the discovery of another trailer found abandoned nearby and attacks on five curtain-sided trailers at the weekend.
These trailers were targeted at Bulman Bulk & Haulage Ltd on Haweswater Road.
Call officers with information on 101.
