A Seascale performing arts student will make his stage debut with Workington and District Amateur Dramatic Society next week in their production of Footloose The Musical, after a surprise vacancy.

Jack Hoy, 19, began acting eight months ago and has only performed in one show before.

But when the role of Chuck Cranston in Footloose became vacant seven weeks before opening night, he jumped at the chance to join the society and fill the gap.

And he’s looking forward to broadening his experience by taking to the stage at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington, having previously only performed in Carlisle College of the Arts’ production of Grease.

Jack, who is also a CrossFit Coach and recently won the title of fittest male in CrossFit CA22 Northern Warrior, said: “Learning a full musical in this time frame was never going to be easy but I leaped at the challenge with open arms when I was offered the position.

“WADAMS is a great theatre group who are very welcoming.

“The high standard of performance is testament to the group’s nice balance of experience and youth.”

Footloose runs from Wednesday, May 15 to Saturday, May 18 at 7.15pm.

Tickets are £15, available at carnegietheatre.co.uk or on 01900 602122.
