Police who are hunting for a jewel thief have issued a picture of a man they want to talk to.

The appeal has come after somebody stole jewellery worth almost £1,000 from a shop in Middlegate, Penrith, on Monday, October 29.

It happened at around 4.20pm.

The total value of the jewellery stolen - which has not been described by police - was £954.

The CCTV image issued by police shows a man in a baseball cap but no other description has been issued by officers investigating the theft.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "Anyone who recognises the individual, or who has any information about the incident, should contact police on 101 and quote log number 177 of 29th of October or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
