FILMING for a children's TV show has begun at a former department store in Carlisle.

The windows of the old Hoopers shop on Castle Street have been dressed in a Christmas theme for an episode of the CBBC show Creeped Out.

Window dressers and stylists have decked the halls with boughs of holly for the festive filming.

And location managers, producers and actors, actresses and extras are on site for the week long shoot.

Loading bays in and around the store on Castle Street and St Mary's Gate have been cordoned off and are being used for film vehicles.

Hoopers has become Peltzer's department store.

The window features some giant gold baubles and mannequins dressed in pyjamas and party dresses.

But customers who thought this was a new store in town will be disappointed to learn that the decorations will be taken down this weekend.

The show features spellbinding, enchanting and intriguing tales that will bring chills to the back of the neck as different characters navigate their way through the unexplained.

Agent Phil McKay, who runs Lakeside Castings, has provided the actors, actresses and some of the extras for the drama.

In total he has cast about 60 people for the shoot.

He said: "This is a big job for Carlisle. The city has never seen anything like it. It could not be in a better place with the cathedral across the road and the castle down the street. The location is lovely.

Mr McKay has also provided 10 children and 10 parents for a Santa's grotto scene as well as shoppers, carol singers, gift wrappers, store staff, parents and children.
