Lookaround: MP to meet IoM minister
Last updated 13:23, Monday, 25 February 2008
CARLISLE MP Eric Martlew will meet with the Isle of Man’s chief minister on Friday to discuss the proposed axing of flagship ITV Border news magazine Lookaround.
He will fly out to the meeting with Andrew Tinkler, managing director of WA Developments, and representatives from Border TV.
“It is important to bring home to the Manx Government the effect that the proposed changes will have on coverage of the island,” explained Mr Martlew.
“In the last three months Border has covered over 85 news stories from the island and if they merge with Tyne Tees this will be dramatically reduced. If it goes over to Granada TV, they will hardly ever get a mention.”
Joining him at the meeting will be Border presenters Adam Powell, Fiona Armstrong and Jonathon Willoughby.
