Fundraising 'a great way to remember Kelly Gourlay'

Grieving parents Stenya and Bob Gourlay have thanked everyone who is raising charity cash in memory of their daughter Kelly, who died after a car crash in June.
The Carlisle couple say they have been overwhelmed by fund-raising events being organised as a tribute to Kelly, 24, the girlfriend of Carlisle United footballer Peter Murphy.
About £5,000 has already been raised for charity in Kelly’s name and the coffers should be boosted next week when a fashion show is held.
Six Carlisle United team-mates of Murphy will be taking part in the Glamour & Glitz event at Carlisle Racecourse on Wednesday October 29, from 7.30pm.
The show will feature former school friends and Kelly’s colleagues from the Cumberland Infirmary, where she was working while a student nurse at St Martin’s College.
Joining them on the catwalk will be a team of professional models sporting clothes from top fashion stores and boutiques.
Mrs Gourlay, 47, an NHS trainer, said: “Kelly was gorgeous and she would have had a fantastic night.
“She would have loved it there. The more fun it is, the more Kelly would have enjoyed it.
"Anything like this definitely helps us. It gives us a focus. I’d like to thank everyone for all they have done in Kelly’s name.”
She also praised Carlisle United player Chris Lumsdon for his support.
He is taking part in the fashion show with fellow Blues footballers Michael Bridges, Scott Dobie, Simon Hackney, David Raven and Josh Gowling.
The fashion show is being organised in association with Carlisle United Football Club by Carlisle Living, a new glossy magazine being launched on Saturday, October 25, by CN Magazines, part of Cumbrian Newspapers. Proceeds will go to Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland and the Great North Air Ambulance.
The event is being organised by CN Event Management.
Tickets, priced £20, are available from Cumbrian Newspapers offices in Bank Street, Carlisle, and from Carlisle United’s Blues Store at Brunton Park or by telephoning CN Events on 01228 612231.
