A Cumbrian hotel is one of the top 10 honoured in the 2009 edition of The Good Hotel Guide.
According to the guide, Lindeth Fell at Bowness-on-Windermere has been given the 2008 Cesar award as the best English country hotel.
It is among 10 outstanding hotels claiming one of the awards named after the famous hotelier Cesar Ritz.
Others include The Bay Horse at Ulverston, which is named as the Cumbrian inn of the year.
The honours include the best luxury hotel and the best Welsh country house.
News of the Cesar awards was released as editors criticised those hotels who impose a service charge on guests’ bills, stating that the payment of gratuity should be at the customer’s discretion.
