EIGHT men were arrested after a 7am street brawl in which thugs are suspected of wielding sticks and clubs in Carlisle.
Police made the arrests when they were called to Petteril Bank Road, Harraby, following reports that “males were fighting in the street” early yesterday.
One man was injured in the violence although he was not badly hurt.
An investigation was immediately launched with detectives quizzing the suspects after they were placed in custody.
It is believed officers are looking into whether sticks and clubs were used in the brawl.
Police confirmed that those arrested are all from the Carlisle area.
Three were aged 18, two were 19 another two were 21, while the remaining suspect was aged 32.
Detective Sergeant Jim Skeer told the News & Star: “We would ask any witnesses or anyone who saw anything to contact police.”
The suspects were still being quizzed by detectives last night. Anyone with information can call police on 0845 3300247.
