A man was punched twice in the face after his friend asked a woman to pick up some litter in Penrith.
Christopher Walker, of Bridge Street, Penrith, was on a night out with his girlfriend when he called into the Pizza Parlour in the town on April 12.
When David Birkett told Walker’s girlfriend to pick up some rubbish she had dropped, the two men started arguing.
Mr Birkett’s friend Anthony Nolan got involved with the argument and was punched twice in the face by father-of-two Walker, 33.
Walker pleaded guilty before Penrith magistrates to assaulting Mr Nolan and was ordered to complete 60 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £200 in compensation to Mr Nolan and £58 in costs.
