Man suffers serious injuries as bus rips off car door

A man was taken to hospital with serious hand injuries when his fingers were trapped by a moving bus when it was in collision with his car door in Carlisle.
The 56-year-old, from the city, suffered horrific injuries in the accident on London Road, opposite the Harraby Green Service Station.
Police are investigating the collision. Stagecoach North West, said it was cooperating with officers.
Company bosses and police said the accident happened after the door of the parked car was opened as the bus was being driven along the main city route.
Police said the bus ripped the door off, trapping the man’s fingers.
The injured man was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary with what police described as “serious hand injuries”.
The accident happened at about 12.55pm on Wednesday.
Chris Bowles, managing director of Stagecoach North West, said: “I can confirm there was an incident.
“The door opened as a bus was passing. We are carrying out the usual investigation in cooperation with the police.”
A police spokesman said the injured man had gone to get out of the car.
“The bus driven past has collided with his hand,” he added. “The man went to the Cumberland Infirmary with serious hand injuries.
“We will investigate the incident.”
