Downpour causes flash flooding

Heavy rain brought flash flooding to a Carlisle street during a storm.
Residents on Richardson Street in Denton Holme had water lapping at their doorsteps as rain pounded off the pavement in a ferocious downpour.
The summer storm happened on Sunday night and led to residents lifting some of the drains to try to get the floodwater to run away.
People out-and-about when the rain fell were left drenched by the onslaught and were forced to scurry to the sides of the pavements as the road was submerged.
Parts of Denton Holme were affected by the Carlisle floods of 2005, which left many areas of the city devastated,
