Buy my house... Get the car and sofa free

A CARLISLE woman is so desperate to sell up and move to Spain that she has pledged to GIVE her car to whoever buys her house.
Sheilagh Armstrong-Jones has become increasingly frustrated by the state of the property market and decided to add an unusual extra to stimulate interest in her London Road home.
So, as well as throwing in the likes of her leather suite, she is also including her Renault Clio – valued at £5,000 – as part of the deal.
The former Business Link Cumbria executive wants to start a new life in the sun, partly because she believes the heat will help the arthritis which has kept her out of work since January.
And although she has had a number of would-be buyers to view her two-bedroomed house – on the market for offers in the region of £160,000 – none have sealed a deal because they cannot offload their own homes.
Her problems have emerged as financial experts warn of increasingly challenging conditions for the housing market nationwide as the global credit crunch continues to bite.
Ms Armstrong-Jones, 58, first put her house on the market in November through Carlisle-based firm Cumbrian Properties and has also advertised online.
She said: “I cannot fault Cumbrian Properties. They are really nice people.
“It is not the fact that people do not want to buy the house, it is the fact that they cannot sell theirs.
“I had already said I would throw in my leather suite, but I am trying to come up with as many ways as possible to sell the house.
“That was when I came up with the idea of selling with the car included. It is a little different.”
Ms Armstrong-Jones, who worked with the Train to Gain section of Business Link and has also run events for complementary care group Mind, Body and Spirit, has lived in her current home for 15 years.
Had it not been for her desire to quit Cumbria for Spain, she said she would never have moved from that part of Carlisle.
The semi-detached property has two double bedrooms and single garage. Her 04-registration car is described as being pale lilac in colour and has less than 10,000 miles on the clock.
She had originally planned to take the car to Spain, but has been put off by the cost of fitting air conditioning.
Ms Armstrong-Jones hopes to move to near Murcia on the Costa Blanca, where she plans to rent a property and set up a complementary therapy business.
“I have quite a few friends from Carlisle who have already moved out there,” she said.
Viewing is by appointment through Cumbrian Properties.
