A 21-YEAR-OLD man is facing prison after taking a car without permission and driving while drunk and banned from the roads.
Whitehaven magistrates warned Carl Doran that prison is a possibility as it was his second similar offence in a short time.
Doran, 21, of Border Avenue, Cleator Moor, had been living at a friend’s home when he took his friend’s father’s car to get a takeaway, the court heard.
He was more than twice over the drink drive limit with 94mg of alcohol in his breath. The limit is 35mg.
His solicitor David Roberts said he had “gone off the rails a bit” after being made redundant and turning to drink.
Doran was still serving an unpaid work order for taking a car without consent and driving it while drunk last March. His current case was adjourned until June 4 for pre-sentence reports, not excluding custody, and unconditional bail was granted.
