Woman killed in car crash

A WOMAN driver was killed after her car was in collision with a van on the A590 in south Cumbria.
The accident, which happened at about 5.15pm yesterday , closed a section of the road near Gilpin Bridge for about four hours.
The woman, who has not yet been named, taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary after being freed from her Nissan by fire crews - but she died of her injuries.
She was heading west towards Grange at the time of the crash.
Two men travelling in the Ford Transit van were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The woman is the 17th person to die on the county’s roads this year.
