PENRITH’S Blues nightclub will close at the end of this month to make way for the New Squares development.
Club owner and licensee Robin Johnson, of Arthur Street, Penrith, said: “It’s sad in a sense, but the club has served its time and has now come to the end of its days.”
Mr Johnson took over the premises in July 1987 and set about increasing the nightclub’s capacity from 420 to 582.
Blues will open for the last time on May 30, but the last live gig will take place next Saturday when two Penrith bands, the Marshall Family and The Revolution, will be joined by Alston’s Sods Law.
Toppers nightclub in Southend Road, Penrith, is not affected by the New Squares development.
