Workington Town chairman Garry Mounsey believes the mouth-watering tie of the League One Super Eights has to be the west Cumbrian derby.

Town and Haven will cross swords once again on Sunday, September 17 with Workington having home advantage at Derwent Park in the final game of the Super Eights.

“The Super Eights throws up some real crackers home and away,” said Mounsey.

“Every game will be tough and we’ll need to be at the top of our game for every single one of them.

“The stand out fixture is obviously the Haven at home in the last match of the Eights.

“That could have some real significance in the league come the end of the season.”

Out of the seven games available, Town will play three at home and four away.

As well as welcoming Haven, they will also see Toronto Wolfpack make a return to Derwent Park, along with Doncaster.

Mounsey added: “We’re also looking forward to testing ourselves again against Toronto after a great encounter earlier in the season.

"Everybody at the club is raring to go and looking forward to the challenge.”

Town will begin their campaign away from home with a trip to the north east to meet Newcastle Thunder before the Wolfpack land a week later for the first home game.

After seven matches, the team in first position will be automatically promoted to the Kingstone Press Championship.

The second-placed team will enter a four-club play-off with a home fixture against the team in fifth whilst third plays fourth.

The winners of those two matches will contest a play-off final for the second promotion place.
