FC Halifax Town 0 Carlisle Utd 0: Carlisle United played out a goalless stalemate at Halifax in their penultimate pre-season friendly.

A game that saw a host of substitutions, some rolling, saw neither side able to break the deadlock.

Nicky Adams came closest for United with a curling shot in the second half, after Reggie Lambe had failed to convert a Shaun Miller cross before the break.

At the other end, Jack Bonham saved well from Bohan Dixon while Dion Charles went close for the National League side.

Former Carlisle man Ben Tomlinson shot over the bar for Halifax, with United's trialist striker - understood to be ex-Wigan man Sam Cosgrove - coming off the bench to test home keeper Sam Johnson.

All four of Carlisle United's summer signings were in the starting line-up in front of a 663 crowd.

John O'Sullivan and Jason Kennedy were with the squad as they return from injury, but were not involved in the game.

United's final warm-up game is at home to Blackburn next Friday night.
