Tesco County League Premier Division champions Netherhall were celebrating a third success of the season after adding the Conway Cup to their already bulging trophy cabinet.
Tony Nicholson scored in his second successive cup final to help the Maryport side to victory over their Division One rivals Cleator Moor Celtic.
Netherhall have already been crowned Tesco Premier League winners and two weeks ago landed the Peter Dawson Benevolent Cup.
A goal either side of the break saw Netherhall make it three of the best in a scrappy encounter with their Copeland foes.
Nicholson had a few early sighters, but failed to his the target in the opening minutes. Midfield maestro Chris Dawes was equally as wasteful, when he fired over on 10 minutes.
The lively Nicholson, a former Workington Reds player, headed wide on 22 minutes.
Ben Byers finally made the breakthrough on 22 minutes when he reacted quickest to fire the ball off a Celtic defender and past the hapless Craig Rule.
Beyers had a chance to double his tally, but when through one on one with Rule, the keeper blocked his effort.
It was one way traffic until the break with Shaun Smith making a nuisance of himself in the Celtic box, but he headed Dawes’ superb centre wide.
The second half started like the first with both teams trying to control play.
Nicholson had a chance to extend Netherhall’s lead. The pacey front man raced clear, but keeper Rule got down well to deny him.
The striker made sure of the result on 75 minutes when he latched on to Ryan Porter’s shot after Rule had made a smart block.
The pair clash again tomorrow in the final of the Ken Glover Memorial Shield at Whitehaven Amateurs’ ground. Kick off is 2pm.
