Are Roxanne's sexy schoolgirl pictures in poor taste?
Cumbrian actress Roxanne Pallett has come in for some heavy online criticism after being photographed as a “sexy schoolgirl”.
She dressed up in stockings and school uniform complete with eye popping cleavage when she dropped in at a London nightclub with fellow cast members of the Rock Around the Clock stageshow.
The Daily Mail, which in print likes to be regarded as a guardian of the nation’s morals, makes the most of such pictures online where it has transformed its website into a celebrity fest where anything goes.
It will put any story online to grab traffic and the more female celebs showing the flesh the better. So it is happy have stories about “an eyeful of busty Paris Hilton” and Michelle Heaton picking a love tattoo if it helps keep its position as the most used newspaper website with over 40 million unique users a month.
However, another great feature of www.dailymail.co.uk is that the comments readers add to stories often fly in the face of the Daily Mail’s view of the world.
So there were plenty of readers pointing out the dubious morals of posing as a “sexy schoolgirl”.
This was typical of many who thought Roxanne had gone too far: “If it's wrong (and rightly so) for men to sexually fantasize about young girls, then surely it's wrong for women to project young girls sexually.”
