Comedy night is smokin’

CARLISLE’S only remaining comedy club continues at Spirit, on Crosby Street, tomorrow night.
The demise of Don’t Mention The Floods, at The Brickyard, leaves The Howling Owl Comedy Club as the city’s last bastion of chuckles.
Tomorrow’s Howling Owl brings three top drawer rib-ticklers to Spirit. Headlining is Windsor. This Londoner headlines for Jongleurs comedy clubs around the UK.
He has compered the Glastonbury big top and his mixture of one-liners and storytelling led The Stage newspaper to report: “A master of putdown, Windsor delivers hot material with a rare skill.”
Also appearing is Al Dawes, an acclaimed Newcastle-based comic who talks about the great challenges of life. And why more of us should smoke a pipe.
Completing the line-up is Dominic Tighe, who has been complimented by The Times on his “effortless delivery”.
Doors open at 8pm for a 9.30pm start. Admission is £5 on the door.
Diners booking a table at Thyme and Place restaurant downstairs can have a table reserved for the Howling Owl. Call 01228 599188.
