Shaun Miller's wonder strike against Barnet has been hailed as a "goal of a lifetime" as it is today named League Two's goal of the month for September.

The Carlisle United striker was a comfortable winner in a three-man supporters' poll after his spectacular equaliser in the 1-1 draw on September 16.

Miller, expected to lead the line against Colchester tomorrow, drew glowing praise from goal of the month judge Don Goodman as he received the award.

Goodman, the Sky Sports EFL pundit, said: "When trying to find a late equaliser in games, the ball is booted downfield and goals are often scrappy or a result of bad defending, but that is far from the case here.

“The initial touch from Miller to set himself is superb and gives him the chance to hook it into the top corner while still facing away from goal.

"It’s a goal of a lifetime and one that will live long in the memory.”

Miller's superb goal came ahead of efforts by Swindon's Chris Hussey against Luton and Exeter's Jayden Stockley against Morecambe.

The Blues striker said: "This is the first time I’ve ever been nominated for an individual award, so it’s very much appreciated.

“We were pushing for an equaliser and penning them back for large periods of time.

"It was a long goal kick and I managed to get in front of my defender, and when the first touch popped up, there wasn’t anything else in my mind except to bicycle kick it and when I glanced over my shoulder and saw it fly in it was a great feeling.

"I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me."
