Shaun Brisley has left Carlisle United and joined Notts County.

The defender will be joining the Magpies on a two-year contract after his Brunton Park departure.

Defender Brisley, 27, only joined the Blues on a two-year deal last summer but has now had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

One of the highlights from Brisley's time in Cumbria was his volley against Yeovil.

"I would like to thank Shaun for his efforts because he has been a pleasure to deal with," Blues boss Keith Curle said.

"He bought into what we are trying to do from the very first moment he arrived and he has worked hard whenever he has been asked to step up.

"One of the things he identified when we spoke was that he wanted more game time this season, and that was something I couldn't guarantee for him here.

"Part and parcel of the job I have to do at this club is to be creative with the squad and to maximise the potential I have.

"Having spoken to Shaun at length, I think this is a move which works well for him and for the club.

"He has done some good work with us through pre-season and, as I say, we wish him well as he takes his next step."

Brisley will be teaming-up with Cumbrian keeper Adam Collin at Notts County.
