Keith Curle says the "big characters" in his squad are all important as Carlisle United bid to end their recent poor run tomorrow.

The Blues host Crewe desperate for a victory that can revive their promotion hopes.

Sixth-placed United will be seeking a first goal in seven games against David Artell's visitors.

Manager Curle has said the time for excuses is over and there can be no place to hide in his squad.

"We've got some big characters coming back and they've all got to play their part," Curle said.

"The weakest part of your jigsaw puzzle has got to be your strength. We can't have weaknesses in that changing room."

Tomorrow's game will see recent signing Junior Joachim in the squad for his first home game.

The French forward was signed last weekend with cash raised by fans in a crowdfunding initiative. A cheque presentation will be made before tomorrow's game.

The Carlisle United Official Supporters' Club, meanwhile, will be using their supporters' surgery tomorrow to collect food for the Carlisle Foodbank.

United's youth team are at home to Bury tomorrow (Creighton), kick-off 11am.
