Leyton Orient 1 Carlisle Utd 2: Debutant Jamie Proctor scored the winner and was sent off on eventful Carlisle United debut as the new-look Blues got back to winning ways.

Bolton loanee Proctor headed the decisive goal in the 68th minute against Leyton Orient as Keith Curle's side came from behind.

But shortly afterwards the striker received two bookings in quick succession as his afternoon ended early.

It was otherwise a successful afternoon for Curle's team, who fell behind to Gavin Massey's effort before Gary Liddle levelled with his first United goal before the break.

John O'Sullivan, from the start, as well as subs George Waring and James Bailey, also got their first taste of Blues action, while Mike Jones made a welcome return as a second-half sub as United won their first game in six.

The struggling hosts took the lead when Luke Joyce inadvertently flicked on a long ball and Massey was alert to get behind the defence and fire past Mark Gillespie on 25 minutes.

But another of Carlisle's January signings, Liddle, levelled just 10 minutes later.

The ex-Chesterfield man poached from close range after a Jamie Devitt free-kick had been kept out by a combination of goalkeeper and woodwork.

Carlisle, after a patchy start, finished the half strongly with Joyce almost setting up Jabo Ibehre for a goal against his former club.

Massey's pace on the right saw Orient test Carlisle further, meanwhile, and one low cross from the wide man somehow evaded everyone in the box.

Proctor had had a low shot saved in the opening stages as the new No9 battled with the home centre-halves.

After the break, Ibehre hit the side-netting from a good position, before the big frontman was replaced by Stoke loanee Waring.

And the 22-year-old deadline-day arrival was immediately in the action, climbing to head a Nicky Adams cross towards goal - and when keeper Sam Sargeant parried it, Proctor pounced to score.

The matchwinner will, though, be suspended for United's next game as he then picked up two yellow cards in the space of three minutes, the second for a foul on sub Sammy Moore.

Moore had a 25-yard effort saved by Gillespie in the closing stages, while the impressive Liddle thwarted Massey during injury-time as Carlisle held on against their second-bottom hosts.

The victory keeps United in third place in League Two with their gap above the play-off still four points.

Jason Kennedy (groin) and Shaun Brisley (knee) missed out for the Cumbrians, while former Blues striker Charlie Wyke, scored just 15 minutes into his Bradford debut against Gillingham.
