Jabo Ibehre has been offered the chance to extend his stay with Carlisle United among six players offered new deals by Keith Curle.

Popular striker Ibehre, 34, joins midfielders James Bailey and Samir Nabi in being tabled fresh terms by the Blues boss, with talks also set to continue with Mark Gillespie, Michael Raynes and Jason Kennedy.

Curle has, meanwhile, released three of his out-of-contract players, while it appears none of the remaining squad have been transfer-listed.

Leaving the club are home-grown Cumbrian left-back Patrick Brough along with keeper Max Crocombe and striker Ben Tomlinson.

Junior Joachim, meanwhile, has yet to be spoken to by Curle as the frontman is currently in France on family business.

And there appears the possibility of a fresh start at Brunton Park for defender Mark Ellis, who has a year left on his deal but spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Forest Green.

Curle has yet to comment on the decisions.

But he has shown further faith in Ibehre after the veteran enjoyed a prolific end to his second Blues season.

He scored 14 in total in 2016/17, after firing 17 in his first United campaign.

Former Derby midfielder Bailey, meanwhile, has been rewarded with a contract offer after making 14 appearances following his January arrival.

The 28-year-old started both play-off semi-final legs against Exeter.

Nabi made just one substitute appearance after his short-term move in March - yet Curle believes the 20-year-old is worth a further chance at Brunton Park.

The retained and released list, though, spells the end of Brough's time at Carlisle after the Silloth man came through the youth ranks alongside Kyle Dempsey.

The 21-year-old ended the campaign on loan with National League North outfit Salford City having previously been on loan at Lincoln.

Brough made 49 first-team appearances for the Cumbrians after being handed his debut aged 17 in 2013.

New Zealand under-23 international Crocombe's release after four first-team outings in the Checkatrade Trophy last season will leave the Blues in need of at least one new keeper this summer.

Tomlinson, meanwhile, made just one sub outing after joining on a short-term deal late in the campaign.

It has not yet been confirmed when a decision will be made on Joachim, who made two substitute appearances last season after being signed using cash from a supporters' crowdfunding initiative.

Curle indicated several months ago that new terms were being offered to the experienced trio of Raynes, Kennedy and Gillespie, the latter United's longest-serving player.

Danny Grainger has already signed an extension, with Luke Joyce and Reggie Lambe triggering an extra year through appearances.

Others remaining under contract for next season are Ellis, Nicky Adams, Shaun Brisley, Jamie Devitt, Mike Jones, Gary Liddle, Shaun Miller, Tom Miller and John O’Sullivan.

United also confirmed that loan trio Jamie Proctor, George Waring and Macaulay Gillesphey have returned to their parent clubs.
