England's Under-20s, led by former Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson, have reached their first-ever World Cup Final after a 3-1 victory over Italy.

Simpson's young troops got off to a terrible start as they fell behind in the early stages of the match with Riccardo Orsolini breaking the deadlock.

But Dominic Solanke, who is set to join Liverpool from Premier League champions Chelsea this summer, scored twice with Everton man Ademola Lookman getting the other goal.

The Young Three Lions had topped their group.

They beat Argentina 3-0 in impressive style in their opening World Cup game, before they drew with Guinea.

But they ended their group stage campaign with a 1-0 victory over hosts South Korea to ensure they finished top of Group A.

They then went on to beat Costa Rica and Mexico on their way to the semi-finals.

England Under-20s will face Venezuela in their first-ever World Cup Final on Sunday.

Cumbrian Simpson, the young Three Lions' side's head coach, led Carlisle to back-to-back promotions in 2005 and 2006.

Manchester United's Whitehaven-born keeper Dean Henderson is also part of the England squad. He started between the sticks in the draw with Guinea.
