Clint Hill is back with Carlisle United - and scored for their reserves this afternoon.

The veteran defender has again linked up with the Cumbrians and featured in a Central League Cup game against Morecambe.

Hill, a free agent, headed Carlisle's opening goal after 34 minutes in the game at Penrith's Frenchfield Park.

The 38-year-old was then substituted on the hour mark after a solid performance.

Samir Nabi got United's other goal in a 2-0 victory.

Hill remains available after failing to agree terms to rejoin former club QPR last week.

He had trained with Carlisle prior to his brief spell back at Loftus Road and Blues manager Keith Curle has made no secret of his interest in the centre-half.

Hill and the United boss - who watched the game along with his backroom staff - are now likely to have further talks.

Also featuring in this afternoon's game were two other trialists, one a striker and the other on the right of midfield.

First-team players Jamie Devitt, Tom Miller, Jason Kennedy and Sam Cosgrove were involved, Kennedy playing the first half and Devitt an hour.

First-year pros Cameron Salkeld and Jack Egan also got some pitch time as well as some of United's youth side.

Nabi could have had further goals in the second half, hitting the post on 68 minutes and missing a good chance after being set up by youth forward Belchior Papa.
