Patrick Brough's loan spell at National League North outfit Salford City has been extended for a further two months.

Brough, 20, has featured in all six of Salford's fixtures since his arrival, which was initially for one month before the loan extension was announced today.

Speaking about the situation, Carlisle United manager Keith Curle had confirmed: "That [the loan] is going to be extended.

"They [Salford] have rung up and asked could they take him for the full 93 days and we've said yes."

Curle also praised "the change" in the 20-year-old Cumbrian.

He added: "The change in Patrick since he's gone there and played games is fantastic.

"The lad still trains with us, and he's got that zest about a young man that you want - he's getting that 90 minutes competitive football and he's playing in a winning team."

Salford currently sit sixth in the National League table, just four points off a play-off spot, albeit the two teams behind them in FC Halifax Town and Brackley Town do both have games in hand on them.

Fellow Carlisle players Russell Penn and David Atkinson are both also getting game time at Gateshead and Blyth Spartans respectively.

Brough's loan will now last until February 3, 2017, and is subject to statutory recall procedures.
